Soda-Licious Kiln

Soda is my primary choice of firing method. I was first introduced to this process in 2016, when I was his intern at The Clay Center of Northern Colorado, where I am now one of the current resident artists. The process of soda firing involves a sodium glaze solution which is introduced into the kilns atmosphere at peak temperature (2350ºF). The resulting sodium vapor forms a molten glaze on the pottery as it weaves throughout the collection of pieces within the kiln. Each piece reflects a moment where the work has come into contact with the flame and soda.
